Elocom Ointment contains mometasone furoate 0.1% in an ointment base designed for inflammatory skin conditions, especially where dryness and thickened patches are present. The corticosteroid component reduces inflammation and itch, while the ointment base can help reduce transepidermal water loss and support comfort on dry lesions.\n\nCommon doctor-directed uses:\n- Dry, inflamed eczema patches\n- Dermatitis with marked dryness\n- Steroid-responsive rashes needing stronger emollient base\n\nWhy ointment format may be chosen:\n- Better suited for dry/scaly areas\n- Supports longer contact with skin\n- Can feel more protective than creams\n\nSafe-use essentials:\n- Use the smallest amount for the shortest time needed\n- Apply only to affected areas\n- Reassess if no improvement within expected timeframe\n\nOveruse can cause skin thinning and other steroid effects, particularly on sensitive areas. Follow clinician directions closely.
Mometasone furoate 0.1%; ointment base excipients.
Usage: Apply a thin layer to affected area as prescribed; typically once daily.\nPrecautions: Prescription-only; avoid prolonged use and large areas; avoid face/groin unless directed; do not apply to infected lesions without advice; stop if irritation or worsening occurs.
