Uvamin Retard 100 mg Capsules Pack Of 20 contain sustained-release nitrofurantoin monohydrate for urinary tract infections. Each capsule delivers 100 mg of nitrofurantoin, providing bacteriostatic and bactericidal activity against E. coli, Klebsiella, Enterococci, and other susceptible pathogens. The controlled-release formulation ensures consistent plasma levels with twice-daily dosing, suitable for acute cystitis, recurrent UTI prophylaxis, and perioperative use in patients with adequate renal function.

Active Ingredient & Action:• Nitrofurantoin monohydrate 100 mg inhibits bacterial carbohydrate metabolism and DNA synthesis• Achieves high urinary excretion for therapeutic bladder concentrationsIndications:• Acute uncomplicated cystitis in women• Recurrent UTI prophylaxis (≥3 episodes/year)• Perioperative prophylaxis in urology procedures• Off-label: asymptomatic bacteriuria in pregnancy under supervisionDosage & Administration:• Acute infection: 1 capsule 2–3× daily for 7–10 days• Prophylaxis: 1 capsule at bedtime for up to 6 months or per physician's order• Take with food; swallow whole; do not crush/chewSafety & Precautions:• Contraindicated if CrCl <60 mL/min (reduced efficacy, toxicity risk)• AEs: GI upset, pulmonary hypersensitivity, peripheral neuropathy• Monitor hepatic & pulmonary function with long-term use• Avoid in infants <1 month & late pregnancy (hemolytic anemia risk)Storage:• Store at 20–25 °C in original container
