Clexane 2000 Anti-Xa IU/0.2ml is a prescription anticoagulant injection containing Enoxaparin Sodium, a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH). Each 0.2ml prefilled syringe contains 2000 Anti-Xa IU, equivalent to 20mg of Enoxaparin Sodium.
Clexane works by reducing the blood's ability to form harmful clots. It is used for the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism, according to the patient's individual clinical condition and prescribed treatment plan.
It may be prescribed to prevent blood clots in patients undergoing certain surgical procedures or in medical patients who have reduced mobility due to acute illness. Enoxaparin is also used in selected cardiovascular conditions, including acute coronary syndromes, and may be used to prevent clot formation during haemodialysis.
Clexane is supplied as a ready-to-use prefilled syringe for subcutaneous administration. The exact dose, frequency and duration of therapy vary according to the indication, body weight, kidney function and individual risk of bleeding or thrombosis.

How to Use:
• Use Clexane only exactly as prescribed by a doctor or qualified healthcare professional.
• Clexane is usually administered by subcutaneous injection.
• The dose and frequency depend on the medical indication, body weight, kidney function and individual risk factors.
• Do not change the prescribed dose or stop treatment without consulting the treating physician.
• If self-injection has been prescribed, follow the injection technique demonstrated by the healthcare professional.
• Inject into the abdominal area as instructed, alternating injection sites where appropriate.
• Do not rub the injection site after administration as this may increase bruising.
• Use each prefilled syringe only once.
• Dispose of used syringes immediately in an appropriate sharps container.
Precautions:
• Prescription-only anticoagulant medicine.
• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to Enoxaparin, Heparin or other low molecular weight heparins.
• Do not use in patients with active major bleeding unless specifically managed by a specialist.
• Inform the physician of any history of bleeding disorders, stomach ulcers, recent surgery, stroke or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
• Use with particular caution in patients with kidney impairment, as dose adjustment may be required.
• Elderly patients and patients with low body weight may require closer monitoring.
• Tell the doctor about all other medicines being taken, particularly aspirin, NSAIDs, antiplatelet medicines or other anticoagulants.
• Enoxaparin can cause bleeding and bruising; seek urgent medical attention for unusual or prolonged bleeding.
• Patients undergoing spinal or epidural anaesthesia require careful medical monitoring because of the risk of spinal or epidural haematoma.
• Platelet counts may require monitoring because heparin-induced thrombocytopenia can occur.
• Do not inject intramuscularly.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding use should be determined by the treating physician.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Store according to the conditions stated on the original pack and protect from excessive heat.
