Chlorohistol 10mg/1ml Injection 5's is a prescription antihistamine medicine containing Chlorpheniramine Maleate, a first-generation H1 antihistamine used for the treatment of acute and severe allergic reactions.
Each 1ml ampoule contains 10mg of Chlorpheniramine Maleate. The injectable formulation is intended for situations where rapid antihistamine action is required or where oral administration is not suitable.
Chlorohistol may be used in the management of acute urticaria, severe itching, allergic reactions to insect bites and stings, angioedema, drug or serum reactions, hay fever and other significant allergic conditions according to the treating physician's assessment.
In severe allergic reactions or anaphylaxis, Chlorpheniramine may be used as an adjunct to emergency treatment. It does not replace first-line emergency measures such as adrenaline when these are clinically indicated.
The injection may be administered by subcutaneous, intramuscular or slow intravenous injection depending on the clinical situation and prescribed treatment protocol. Intravenous administration should be given slowly by a qualified healthcare professional.

How to Use:
• Chlorohistol must be used only under the direction of a doctor or qualified healthcare professional.
• The injection may be administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly or by slow intravenous injection according to the clinical indication.
• The usual adult dose of Chlorpheniramine injection may be 10–20mg, depending on the severity of the allergic reaction and the physician's instructions.
• The total adult dose should generally not exceed 40mg within 24 hours.
• When rapid action is required, such as in severe allergic reactions, the intravenous route may be used.
• Intravenous administration should be given slowly, typically over at least 1 minute.
• In anaphylaxis, Chlorohistol is an adjunct treatment and must not delay or replace adrenaline and other emergency supportive measures.
• Use only the dose and frequency prescribed by the treating physician.
• Each ampoule is intended for single use; discard any unused remainder.
Precautions:
• Prescription-only medicine.
• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to Chlorpheniramine, other antihistamines or any component of the formulation.
• Chlorpheniramine may cause drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision and reduced alertness.
• Use caution in patients with glaucoma or raised intraocular pressure.
• Use caution in patients with prostatic enlargement or urinary retention.
• Use cautiously in patients with severe hypertension, cardiovascular disease, asthma, bronchitis or bronchiectasis.
• Extra caution is required in elderly patients because they may be more sensitive to anticholinergic effects.
• Use cautiously in patients with epilepsy, liver disease or thyrotoxicosis.
• Do not use in patients who are currently taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or who have taken them within the previous 14 days.
• Alcohol, sedatives and other medicines that cause drowsiness may increase the sedative effects of Chlorpheniramine.
• Patients should avoid driving or operating machinery if drowsiness, dizziness or blurred vision occurs.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding use should be based on medical advice.
• Seek urgent medical attention if breathing difficulty, severe hypotension or worsening allergic symptoms occur.
• Store at room temperature not exceeding 30°C.
• Protect from light.
• Keep out of reach of children.
