Humalog 100 Units/ml 3ml Cartridges is a prescription rapid-acting insulin medicine containing Insulin Lispro, used to help control blood glucose levels in adults and children with diabetes mellitus who require insulin therapy.
Each 3ml cartridge contains 300 units of Insulin Lispro at a concentration of 100 units/ml. Insulin Lispro is a rapid-acting insulin analogue produced using recombinant DNA technology and is designed to act more quickly than regular human insulin.
Humalog helps lower blood glucose by promoting the uptake of glucose into muscle and other tissues and by reducing glucose production by the liver. Its rapid onset of action makes it particularly suitable for controlling the rise in blood glucose associated with meals.
Following subcutaneous injection, Insulin Lispro typically begins to act within approximately 15 minutes and has a shorter duration of action than regular human insulin. It is generally administered close to mealtimes according to the patient's individual insulin regimen.

How to Use:
• Humalog must be used exactly as prescribed by the treating physician or diabetes-care professional.
• Humalog 3ml cartridges are intended for subcutaneous injection using a compatible Lilly reusable insulin pen.
• The individual insulin dose must be determined by the physician according to the patient's blood glucose requirements.
• Insulin Lispro acts rapidly and is generally administered within approximately 0–15 minutes before a meal.
• It may also be administered shortly after a meal when clinically appropriate and as directed by the healthcare professional.
• Inject subcutaneously into areas such as the abdomen, thigh, upper arm or buttock according to professional instruction.
• Rotate injection sites regularly to reduce the risk of lipodystrophy and localized skin changes.
• Do not massage the injection site after administration.
• Follow the instructions supplied with the reusable insulin pen when loading the cartridge and administering each dose.
• Use a new needle for each injection and remove the needle from the pen after use.
• Humalog cartridges should not be mixed with another insulin or medicinal product.
• Do not attempt intravenous administration from the cartridge; if IV Insulin Lispro is required, the appropriate vial formulation must be used by healthcare professionals.
Precautions:
• Prescription-only insulin medicine.
• Do not use during an episode of hypoglycaemia.
• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to Insulin Lispro or any component of the formulation.
• Hypoglycaemia is the most common important adverse effect of insulin therapy.
• Patients should know the warning signs of low blood glucose, which may include sweating, trembling, hunger, dizziness, palpitations, confusion or weakness.
• Always follow the prescribed meal plan and insulin timing to reduce the risk of hypoglycaemia.
• Changes in insulin type, brand, dose or delivery device should be made only under medical supervision.
• Insulin requirements may change during illness, changes in diet, increased or reduced physical activity, pregnancy or changes in kidney or liver function.
• Repeated injections into the same site may cause lipodystrophy or cutaneous amyloidosis; rotate injection sites.
• Monitor blood glucose as recommended by the treating healthcare professional.
• Never share insulin pens, cartridges or needles with another person.
• Do not use the solution if it is cloudy, coloured or contains visible particles.
• Unopened cartridges should be stored in a refrigerator at 2°C–8°C.
• Do not freeze and do not use insulin that has been frozen.
• Protect from excessive heat and direct sunlight.
• After the cartridge is inserted into the pen, store below 30°C and do not refrigerate.
• An in-use cartridge should be discarded after 28 days.
• Do not store the pen with the needle attached.
• Keep out of reach of children.
