Humulin-N 100 Units/ml Injection 10ml is a prescription intermediate-acting human insulin preparation containing Isophane Insulin Human, also known as NPH insulin. It is used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus in patients who require insulin to maintain appropriate blood glucose control.
Each 1ml contains 100 units of recombinant human insulin, and each 10ml vial provides a total of 1000 units. Humulin-N is formulated as a sterile suspension of isophane human insulin designed to provide a more prolonged glucose-lowering effect than short-acting regular insulin.
Humulin-N helps regulate blood glucose by promoting glucose uptake into muscle and other tissues while reducing glucose production by the liver. As an intermediate-acting insulin, it is commonly incorporated into individualized basal insulin regimens and may be used alone or together with shorter-acting insulin when prescribed.
The product appears as a white insulin suspension and must be properly resuspended before each injection until it is uniformly cloudy or milky. The dose and frequency are individualized according to blood glucose results, diet, physical activity, concurrent medicines and the patient's overall insulin requirements.
Humulin-N is administered primarily by subcutaneous injection using an appropriate U-100 insulin syringe. It must not be administered intravenously.

How to Use:
• Use Humulin-N exactly as prescribed by the treating physician or diabetes-care professional.
• The dose and administration schedule must be individualized according to the patient's insulin requirements.
• Humulin-N is primarily administered by subcutaneous injection.
• It must not be administered intravenously.
• Before preparing each dose, gently rotate the vial several times between the palms of the hands to completely resuspend the insulin.
• Continue gentle mixing until the insulin appears uniformly cloudy or milky.
• Do not shake vigorously, as foaming may interfere with accurate dose measurement.
• Inspect the vial before every dose.
• Do not use if clumps are present or if solid white particles remain attached to the bottom or sides of the vial, giving it a frosted appearance.
• Use an insulin syringe specifically marked for U-100 insulin.
• Inject subcutaneously into the abdomen, thigh, upper arm or buttock according to professional instruction.
• Rotate injection sites regularly to reduce the risk of lipodystrophy and cutaneous amyloidosis.
• Do not massage the injection site after administration.
• If Humulin-N is prescribed together with another insulin, follow the healthcare professional's specific instructions regarding timing and mixing.
• Never change the insulin dose, type or treatment schedule without medical advice.
Precautions:
• Prescription-only insulin medicine.
• Do not use during an episode of hypoglycaemia.
• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to human insulin or any component of the formulation.
• Hypoglycaemia is the most common important adverse effect of insulin treatment.
• Symptoms may include sweating, trembling, hunger, palpitations, dizziness, headache, weakness, confusion or changes in behaviour.
• Severe hypoglycaemia may result in loss of consciousness, seizures, coma or other serious complications and requires urgent treatment.
• Inadequate insulin dosing or stopping treatment may cause hyperglycaemia and diabetic ketoacidosis.
• Changes between insulin brands, types, strengths or formulations should be made only under close medical supervision.
• Insulin requirements may change during illness, emotional stress, changes in physical activity or diet, and in patients with kidney, liver, thyroid, adrenal or pituitary disorders.
• Regular blood glucose monitoring should be performed as advised by the healthcare professional.
• Repeated injection into the same site may cause lipodystrophy or cutaneous amyloidosis; rotate injection sites continuously.
• Never share insulin syringes or needles with another person.
• Use a new sterile needle and syringe as appropriate for each injection.
• Unopened vials should be stored refrigerated at 2°C–8°C.
• Do not freeze and do not use insulin that has been frozen.
• Protect from excessive heat and direct sunlight.
• After first use, store below 30°C.
• Follow the in-use period stated on the UAE product pack; product information for comparable Humulin isophane vials specifies 28 days after first use.
• Keep out of reach of children.
